For half a year I delved into the fascinating world of insects and the crucial role they can play in our future food supply.
With a growing global population and increasing pressure on our environment, exploring alternative protein sources is essential. My research focused on consuming insects as a sustainable food alternative, not only from an environmental perspective but also from an ethical standpoint: how can we ensure that the cultivation and consumption of insects happen in a respectful manner?
My research not only addressed practical questions about cultivating crickets as food but also delved into an intriguing question: how can we build an emotional bond between humans and crickets? This question led to designing and experimenting with keeping my own crickets to understand and strengthen the human connection with these small creatures.
Through design and experimentation, I sought ways to change the perception of insects and promote a positive relationship between humans and crickets. My journey involved not only scientific research but also personal involvement in keeping crickets to develop a deeper appreciation for their role in our ecosystem.
This project allowed me not only to conduct a design research but also to open a dialogue about the future of food, ethics, and the human relationship with nature. I invite you to explore further and discover how my designs and insights can contribute to a more sustainable and conscious approach to our diet and environment.
